Refunding Payments
Refund a payment when an order was closed by mistake, then take payment again the right way. Use this when:
- An order was paid with the wrong tender, such as cash instead of credit
- A payment was applied to the wrong order, such as a customer's credit card closing someone else's order
- An old gift card or drink chip was used incorrectly. Each is worth a specific amount, so when it does not cover the whole order it must be applied with Split Custom Amount as a partial payment (see Gift Cards & Coupons → Old Gift Cards and Bartender → Drink Chips). If the Old Gift Card or Drink Chip custom tender is accidentally used to pay the order in full, refund it, then pay again with the proper split.

Refunding a credit card payment
The card must be swiped again to charge it for the correct amount. If the customer has left and the card is no longer available, handle it the same way as the old POS — call the customer or escalate to the office manager.
