Pay with Clover Gift Card

A gift card is taken on the same screen as a credit card. There is no separate gift card button — swipe either card on the main payment screen.

Prerequisite

The order must be open on the payment screen. See Closing Orders → Take Payment.

Swipe the gift card. The POS reads the balance and applies it to the order.

If the balance exceeds the order total

The payment completes. The remaining gift card balance prints on the receipt. Return the card to the customer.

If the balance exactly covers the order total

The payment completes and the card is left at a zero balance.

Reclaim the card

Take the card back from the customer. A zero-balance card is re-used the next time a gift card is purchased — reload it through Gift Cards → Load a Clover Gift Card.

If the balance does not cover the order total

The POS shows the shortfall and prompts for an additional payment. Take the remainder as a second payment to close the order. The card is left at a zero balance.

Reclaim the card

Take the card back from the customer. A zero-balance card is re-used the next time a gift card is purchased — reload it through Gift Cards → Load a Clover Gift Card.
